Here in San Diego where I live we always speak about June gloom pertaining to the weather. For a month with so many wonderful things normally going on weddings, graduations, the start of summer you wouldn’t want to book any of those things at the beach in San Diego County in the month of June because of the gloom. I think we can stretch the gloom past the weather this year! Unemployment up, gas prices way, way up, housing crisis, retail in a mess, and the stock market…who knows! All of these things are affecting your businesses right now and it feels a little gloomy, but there are things we can do, changes in our behaviors and how we handle our business during these tough times. The answer isn’t to stop marketing for sales but to go after them smartly and efficiently. Target specific verticals and products and attack! Hold seminars for your existing and new customers and get the technologies in front of them. Don’t look at an open house or a MOTODRIVEN event as a place to have a good time and lunch. Get the right people there who will buy into the new technologies and give you the business you deserve and need right now. Marketing can help you secure the business you need to get you through these gloomy times right now, call us we can help. We can weather this gloomy time together!
Regards,
Michele

Meatball Sundae: Is Your Marketing Out Of Sync? (Hardcover)
by Seth Godin
Godin's latest business handbook revisits some of his most popular marketing advice. Meatball Sundae is the definitive guide to the fourteen trends no marketer can afford to ignore. It explains what to do about the increasing power of stories, not facts; about shorter and shorter attention spans; and about the new math that says five thousand people who want to hear your message are more valuable than five million who don’t.
A meatball sundae is the unfortunate result of mixing two good ideas. The meatballs are the foundation, the things we need (and sometimes want). These are the commodities that so many businesses are built on. The sundae toppings (hot fudge and the like) are the New Marketing, the social networks, Google, blogs and fancy stuff that make people all excited. The challenge most organizations face: they try to mix them. They attempt to slap new marketing onto old and end up with nothing but a failed website. This book explores the 14 trends that are changing our world and how organizations can either embrace them or be punished by them.
And they definitely work, says Godin, but not when they are on meatballs. |
